Programs & Resources

FIDACA’s work is organized loosely around a few ongoing areas of focus, shaped by what we hear from the community we serve.

Information and resources. We maintain and continue to grow a set of articles and guides covering practical topics: adjusting to vision loss, assistive technology, accessible education, employment, and everyday accommodations.

Community and connection. We believe strongly in the value of shared experience. Where we can, we highlight opportunities for blind and visually impaired people, and those who support them, to connect with one another, whether through local groups, online communities, or organizations that host gatherings and events.

Advocacy and awareness. Accessibility is not just a personal challenge but a societal one. We support broader efforts to make digital tools, public spaces, and everyday services more usable for people with vision loss, and we try to raise awareness of those efforts among our visitors.

Encouragement. Finally, we try to make room for the human side of this experience: the setbacks, the adjustments, and also the humor, resilience, and full lives that so many blind and visually impaired people lead. We welcome reflections and stories from the community, and hope to feature more of them here over time.

This is a young and evolving effort, and we expect it to grow and change as we better understand what would be most useful to the people who visit this site. If there is a resource or topic you think we are missing, we would love to hear about it.
